Exclusive Interview of Aakash Chaudhry on Aakash iTutor Tablet PC

Aakash Institute, which trains medical and engineering aspirants, has come up with its Aakash iTutor tablet PC, with built-in scientifically designed study material compiled by the expert faculty of Aakash Institute.

Speaking exclusively to EFYTimes.com, Aakash Chaudhry, director, Aakash Institute said, "Students waste a lot of time in traveling to tuition classes."

"There is also a problem of finding quality teachers in the locality. A lot of money is also wasted in going to different subject tutors. To remove these issues and provide standard education, we have come up with Aakash iTutor tablet."

With the Aakash iTutor, you can study anytime, anywhere and at your own pace. Users are not required to connect to the Internet to study, as the content is delivered in a SD card.

"We are offering three types of content at the moment- study material in PDF format, tests and assessments, and video lectures. Students can send e-mails to the teacher if they have any doubt regarding any lesson. Also, students can also give mock test using the tablet," said Chaudhry.

The Aakash iTutor has a 17.8-cm (7-inch) 800 x 480 display available with 2 options-capacitive touch-screen and resistive touch-screen. Powered by a 1.5 GHz processor with 512 MB RAM, it has a basic camera, 4 GB of internal memory which is expandable upto 32 GB. Based on Android 2.3 OS, it has Wi-Fi connectivity and USB dongle support. The tablet is shipped from China and its price starts at Rs 14,000 plus taxes. The users will have to pay a higher amount depending on the content they require.

The device can be used as a normal tablet as the hard drive is partitioned into two- Aakash study section and Android section, added Chaudhry.

"We have study materials for medical entrance examinations like AIPMT and others. The content for engineering entrances will be added next year. Foundation study materials for students of Class VIII, IX, X, XI and XII, along with video lectures for XI and XII are available as of now," said Chaudhry.

The study material provided by the institute can be used along with the iTutor tablet only. The device is available online and can also be ordered at any of the Aakash study centres across India.

However, this may not be a very pleasant news for all students. Wondering why? Well, bunking tuition classes and having parents regularly view your progress may not go down too well with many.
